Jaime Caballero Echeverría is a marathon swimmer from San Sebastian, Spain.
Open Water Swimming Career Highlights
- He successfully swam across the English Channel in 10 hours 29 minutes in 2007.
- He completed a two-way crossing of the English Channel in 24 hours 36 minutes on 7 August 2013 to join the 24-hour club for the second time.
- He completed the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 7 hours 53 minutes in 2010.
- The Spanish swimmer from San Sebastian will attempt a rare April crossing of the Catalina Island on behalf of Augie’s Quest and ALS research to complete his second channel of the Oceans Seven. The 37-year-old native of San Sebastian, Spain is swimming to raise money for Augie’s Quest which is named after businessman Augie Nieto who was diagnosed with ALS in 2005. Caballero and Nieto are friends.
- He became the 52nd swimmer and first Spaniard to successfully complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming with a 9 hour 31 minute crossing on 3 April 2012.
- He completed the 115 km swim in the Golfo de Vizcaya (Bay of Biscay) in 2009 in 26 hours 50 minutes in a wetsuit and neoprene swim cap.
- He completed a crossing the Strait of Gibraltar in 2 hours 58 minutes in 2008.
- He was named as one of the 101 Movers And Shakers In The Open Water Swimming World by the Daily News of Open Water Swimming.
