James Caldwell is an American open water swimmer from Hawaii who was inducted in the Hawaii Swimming Hall of Fame in 2005.
Pioneering Swims
Caldwell was the first person to swim from Lanai to Maui across the Auau Channel in 1970 in 5 hours 30 minutes. He was also the first person to swim from Maui to Molokai across the Pailolo Channel in 1973 in 5 hours 20 minutes.
