Joep Buijs

Joep Buijs (born 1969 in the Netherlands) is a 52-year-old Dutch-Australian pool and open water swimmer and a freelance photographer from Brisbane. He will attempt a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 2022.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
- He competed in the Swim Around Keppel event, a 20 km circumnavigation swim around Great Keppel Island in Queensland, Australia held on 15 August 2020, finishing in 5 hours 40 minutes.
- He completed the 34 km Derwent River Big Swim in Hobart, Tasmania in 8 hours 25 minutes at the age of 52 in 2022.
- He appeared in Marathon Swim Stories with Shannon House on 2 May 2022.
- He completed the 19.7 km Rottnest Channel Swim in Western Australia in 2020.
