Open Water Swimming Career Highlights
- 1963, he crossed the English Channel from France to England in 16 hours 53 minutes.
- He competed in the inaugural Windermere International in 1966 in the Lake District of England at the age of 30.
- He was the first person to swim 37 km across the Canal de Menorca (Menorca Channel) that stretches between the Balearic islands of Menorca and Mallorca in the Mediterranean Sea. He crossed the Canal de Menorca in 16 hours 18 minutes in October 1968.
- He participated in the ice swims held on the first Sunday after the New Year during the 1960s in Lea Dam, Lumbutts, near Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, UK.
