Laura Lopez Bonilla is a 51-year-old Spanish open water swimmer from Kent who achieved the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and is a member of the Half Century Club.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
- She has participated in seven English Channel relays including a two-way crossing.
- On 4 August 2002, she completed a 33.2 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 15 hours 39 minutes at the age of 34 as the second Spanish woman to do so.
- On 3 August 2003, she finished 11th in the 26.4 km Lake Zurich Marathon Swim swim in Switzerland in 10 hours 51 minutes 45 seconds at the age of 35.
- On 2 September 2004, she completed the 51 km Round Jersey circumnavigation swim around Isle of Jersey in 10 hours 37 minutes, the first Spanish swimmer to do so.
- On 17 September 2006, she completed a 33.2 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 15 hours 21 minutes. She received the 2006 Frank Richards Endurance Award from the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation.
- On 23 August 2012, she completed a 32.2 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 14 hours 31 minutes 36 seconds.
- On 13 August 2016, she completed a 22.5 km crossing from the Isle of Jersey to France in 10 hours 51 minutes at the age of 48.
- On 17 August 2019, she finished 16th in the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Swim around Manhattan Island in New York City in 9 hours 41 minutes 52 seconds at the age of 51 to achieve the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and join the Half Century Club.
