Lisa Amorao

Lisa Amorao was an American ocean swimmer and escort crew chief from Sunnyvale, California. She passed away in San Francisco Bay in June 2022 during an open water swim. She worked as the Marketing and Communications Manager at netPolarity.

Open Water Swimming Highlights

  • She served as the Communications Specialist for Will Swim for Food between 2015 and 2019. Will Swim For Food is an annual open water swim held in the middle of winter, around the iconic Santa Cruz Wharf to raise money for food banks worldwide. Since 2010 it have raised over US$200,000 for 800,000 million meals, for over 20 food banks. She relaunched the website and implemented a content management system and helped drive swimmer sign-up and provided fundraising support for the January 2016 swim, which generated over US$30,000 in donations.
  • She served as a Content Contributor for Water World Swim between May and September 2014 through photography, video and blog posts intended to encourage swimmers of all levels and abilities to discover the joy of the open water.
