Marc Lewis is an avid and accomplished open water swimmer.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
- On 7 July 2006, he completed a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the California mainland in 9 hours 44 minutes 18 seconds.
- On 5 August 2007, he completed a 33.8 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 11 hours 6 minutes at the age of 45.
- On 12 July 2008, he completed the first 44.3 km crossing of the Santa Barbara Channel from Santa Rosa Island to Coal Oil Point on the California mainland in 15 hours 46 minutes 19 seconds at the age of 46.
- Lewis is a lifetime member of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation. He has completed two of the Southern California Eight.
- His unprecedented swim from Santa Rosa Island to the mainland was documented in a film called The Crossing, directed by Stephen Lewis.
