Michael Moreau is an American former age-group USS and AAU competitive swimmer and multiple national record holder.
Swimming Highlights
- On 9 September 2025, he completed a 45.9 km handcuffed swim around Manhattan Island in 9 hours 41 minutes 46 seconds.
- From the age of 5, he competed at the local, regional and national levels, quickly rising to the top of his age group and breaking long-standing records.
- He is a highly decorated medalist and was featured on national television at the age of 10 while competing in his first AAU Junior Olympics.
- He broke a total of 9 national records, one of which continues to stand 38 years later.
- On 5 October 2024, he started at Pāpōhaku Beach on Molokai and finished on Alan Davis Beach on Oahu to complete a 45 km crossing of the Molokai Channel in Hawaii under the escort of pilot Michael Twigg-Smith.
- In July 2024, he completed the 'Au'au Channel, a 10.75-mile crossing from Lanai to Maui.
- In August 2024, he completed the 30 km Three Rivers Marathon Swim in 10+ hours with Fernando Balestriero as his escort kayaker.
- On 27 May 2025, he set a new Guinness World Record for the furthest distance swum in handcuffs at Ala Moana Beach Park on Oahu in Hawaii. He swam 21.54 km in 9 hours 54 minutes, locked in handcuffs at the wrists while being escorted by kayakers Terri Dietz and Jonathan Storm swimming a straight-arm breaststroke kick. Rachael Dobosz, Jaclyn Skeweris, Jaime Ubongen, Jerelyn Watanabe, and Jill Utsumi served as observers.
