On 20 August 1984, he finished 3rd in the First International Open Ocean Swim, a 41.09 km Catalina Channel crossing from Isthmus Beach of Santa Catalina Island to Cabrillo Beach on the Southern California mainland in 9 hours 23 minutes 6 seconds at the age of 16.
He held the national Egyptian 16U record for 1500m freestyle.
He competed in the 15 km Champions of Egypt race.
He competed in the 30 km Champions of Egypt race.
On 18 August 1984, he competed in the 16.09 km coastal race at the First International Open Ocean Swim between Huntington Beach and [[Seal Beach].
