Nathan Payas is a 39-year-old open water swimmer from Gibraltar who has completed 3 Oceans Seven channels and the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming in his career.
Open Water Swimming Career
- On 2 July 2016, he crossed the 14.4 km Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco in 3 hours 15 minutes at the age of 36.
- On 11 September 2016, he crossed the English Channel from England to France in 9 hours 13 minutes at the age of 37. It was the fastest Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation channel swim of 2016.
- On 11 August 2017, he crossed the 32.3 km Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 9 hours 34 minutes 51 seconds at the age of 38.
- On 22 June 2017, he completed a two-way crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar between Isla de Tarifa in Spain to Punta Cires in Morocco in 9 hours, 48 minutes 57 seconds in support of The Calpe House Trust at the age of 38.
- On 14 July 2018, he won the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Manhattan Swim in New York in 7 hours 21 minutes 0 seconds at the age of 39, completing the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.
- In July 2015, he completed the 12 km Round the Rock of Gibraltar swim in 3 hours 20 minutes.
- In August 2015, he completed the 12 km Round the Rock of Gibraltar swim in 3 hours 7 minutes.
- In August 2016, he pioneered the unprecedented 24 km Double Round the Rock of Gibraltar swim from Western Beach to Eastern Beach to Western Beach in 6 hours 33 minutes. He completed the fastest Round the Rock of Gibraltar swim by a Gibraltarian in 2 hours 58 minutes on his first leg.
- In June 2017, he completed a 28.8 km two-way crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar in 9 hours 48 minutes as the 13th person to complete this two-way crossing and the 10th person to complete the swim without neoprene.
- On 21 April 2019, he completed a 14.4 km crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco in 4 hours 25 minutes together with Prabhat Koli from India, Ravi Sandesh from India, and Jenny Fitzgerald from Jersey.
