Oliver Turner (born 3 February 1971) is a 50-year-old American open water swimmer and race organizer from New Jersey.
Open Water Swimming Career
- On 19 July 2021, Turner completed a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 13 hours 54 minutes 41 seconds to complete the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming at the age of 50. This final Triple Crown swim was escorted by boat Captain Dave Harvey and observed by Don Van Cleve and Nancy Greenblatt.
- In 2008, Turner swam across Lake Zurich in Switzerland in the 26.4 km International Self-Transcendence Marathon Swim from Rapperswil to Zürich in 10 hours 9 minutes.
- In 2006, Turner completed the 45.9 km circumnavigation swim around Manhattan Island in New York, finishing the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 9 hours 7 minutes.
- In 1999, Turner founded the 10 km Horsetooth Open Water Swim in Colorado while a graduate student at Colorado State University.
- In 1998, Turner completed the 45.9 km circumnavigation swim around Manhattan Island in New York, finishing the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 8 hours 35 minutes.
- On 16 August 1995, Turner completed a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 12 hours 53 minutes at the age of 24 under the escort of pilot Dave Ford.
- On 1 August 1995, he completed in the 17 km Irish Championships in Lough Erne from Carrybridge to Enniskillen in 3 hours 57 minutes 18 seconds.
- In 1995, Turner swam the length of Lake Windermere in England in 4 hours 40 minutes.
- On 1 July 1995, he completed the 12.9 km BLDSA Torbay swim from Meadfoot‑Fishcombe‑Meadfoot.
- On 20 August 1994, Turner completed the 45.9 km circumnavigation swim around Manhattan Island in New York, finishing the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in 7 hours 58 minutes.
- Turner was part of the first English team to swim across the North Channel from Northern Ireland to Scotland in 1993 in 10 hours 39 minutes.
- On 3 July 1993, he completed the 12.9 km BLDSA Torbay swim from Meadfoot‑Fishcombe‑Meadfoot.
