noun - Polar Bear Swim is a swimming event of any distance held during the winter where participants enter an open body of water despite low water and air temperatures. Often, Polar Bear Swims are held to raise money for a charity. Usually, no swimming is involved. Participants generally walk, wade or jump in the cold water and splash or stand around, and then walk out.
