Sandycove Swimming Club

Sandycove Island Swimmers was inducted in the Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland as an Honour Contributor, Organisation

noun - Sandycove Island Swimmers is an open water swimming club centered at Sandycove Island, established in 2010. It is a Swim Ireland-affiliated open water club of convenience for adult competent open water swims based in Munster or who wish to swim in Munster open water events. It is also considered a center for marathon swimming.

Mission

For most of the Munster open water swims, participants need to be a member of a Swim Ireland club (in the competitor status). The Sandycove Island Swim Club was established to accommodate swimmers who wanted to swim in these events, but who were not part of a swim club and so did not have Swim Ireland membership. Sandycove Island Swimmers is a state of mind as well as place.

Honors

It was voted into the Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland as an Honour Contributor, Organisation in the Class of 2018.
