Ryan Utsumi and Sayani Das completed a 14.4 km tandem swim of the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco

Sayani Das is a 27-year-old open water swimmer from Baruipara in Kalna, India, training in the Ganges River and the Bay of Bengal while coached by her father Radhyashyam Das.

She won the 2025 Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award.
She crossed the Strait of Gibraltar in 2025 with the fastest female time of the season in 3 hours 51 minutes.
She completed a 10 km river swim in the Ganga.
She completed a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 26-27 July 2017 in 14 hours 8 minutes at the age of 19.
She completed the 19.7 km Rottnest Channel in Western Australia in 6 hours 42 minutes on 24 February 2018.
She completed the 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from the Santa Catalina Island to Southern California in 12 hours 46 minutes on 8 June 2019.
She completed the 45 km crossing of the Molokai Channel from Molokai Island to Oahu on 29 April 2022 in 18 hours 50 minutes. She is the first Indian female swimmer to attempt and complete this channel crossing.
She completed the 23 km Cook Strait from North Island to South Island on 2 April 2024 in 11 hours 47 minutes 55 seconds.
She completed the 35 km crossing of the North Channel from Donaghadee in North Ireland to Portpatrick in Scotland on 30 August 2024 in 13 hours 22 minutes 38 seconds at the age of 26 with North Channel Swimming Association observer Pam Ella and escort pilot Quinton Nelson.
On 18 April 2025, she crossed the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco in 3 hours 51 minutes in a tandem swim with Ryan Utsumi to complete her sixth Oceans Seven channel crossing. On her escort boat was her father Radhashyam Das and her coach Dr. Tapan Kumar Panigrahi.
