Scott Lautman

Scott Mathew Lautman is a 67-year-old American open water swimmer from Seattle, Washington. He was a USA Olympic Swimming trials finalist in the 1972 200m butterfly.

- He finished 9th overall in the 1000m freestyle at the 13th Winter Swimming World Championships in Lake Bled, Slovenia on 24 January 2023.
- He represented the USA at the IISA 5th World Championship in Samoëns, France between 11-15 January 2023.
- He is a member of the Half Century Club due to his swim across the Strait of Gibraltar at the age of 51 from Cires Point in 4 hours 16 minutes on 3 September 2003.
- He crossed his second Oceans Seven channel when he crossed the Catalina Channel in 12 hours on 26 June 2013.
- On 21 January2009, he crossed the Strait of Magellan, together with Rachel Golub, Cristian Vergara, and brother Mark Lautman at the age of 55 in 1 hour 18 minutes.
- He placed in the top 5 in the 60-64 age group in the 14th FINA World Masters Championships 3 km race in Riccione, Italy on 17 June 2012.
- He was one of the top male swimmers in the 10 km race in the 2012 Swim Across America Long Beach event on 23 September 2012.
- He achieved the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming at the age of 60 years 7 months with a crossing of the Catalina Channel in 2013:

- He participated in the unprecedented 2013 Bering Strait Swim Relay that completed a 86 km relay crossing from Russia to Alaska.
- He serves as the Chief Safety Officer of the Northwest Open Water Swimming Association and is a regular swimmers of the Notorious Alki Swimmers.
- He competed in the Ice Kilometer at the 3rd International Ice Swimming Association World Championship held in Murmansk, Russia in March 2019.
- He won the 65-69 year category on the 2018-2019 International Winter Swimming Association World Cup series that included the 10th Jelgavas Roņi Cup, the Bled Winter Swimming World Cup, the Skellefteå Dark & Cold, and the Petrozavodsk Russian Open Championships.
- He participated in The Silver Seals, a group of open water swimmers over the age of 60 who pioneered a 16.7 km (10.4-mile) course in the Salish Sea on 25 July 2021 in 4 hours 24 minutes 43 seconds from Bremerton to Alki Point in West Seattle, Washington. Its members included 66-year-old Guila Muir, 75-year-old escort pilot Martin Adams, filmmaker Bethanie Mitchell, 68-year-old Scott Lautman, 64-year-old Rachel Price, 69-year-old Greg Rolnick, 61-year-old Michael Palmer, 62-year-old Zena Courtney, and observer Stephanie Zimmerman.
Bering Strait Swim
Lautman was a member of the successful, unprecedented, 5-day Bering Strait Swim relay, a 53-mile (86 km) relay crossing from Cape Dezhnev in Chukotka, Russia, to Cape Prince of Wales in the state of Alaska, USA.
