Seal Beach is a coastal city in Orange County, California with a Mediterranean climate. It lies between Long Beach and Huntington Beach. The town attracts many during the summer and has been the marathon swimming training ground for many accomplished open water swimmers including Lynne Cox, Penny Dean, John York, Lexie Kelly, and Hank Wise as well as dozens of ocean swimmers from the Sea Monkeys pod.

- start of the 40.9-mile (65.9 km) OC Coast To Coast Boast, an 11-day stage swim along the entire coast of Orange County in Southern California
