Palawan Beach is a beach on Sentosa Island in Singapore

21-year-old Ichika Kajimoto of Japan winning the 3 km Knockout Sprints at the 2025 World Aquatics World Championships on Sentosa Island in Singapore as her swim cap was falling off

Sentosa is an island resort off Singapore’s southern coast, connected to the city by road, cable car, pedestrian boardwalk and monorail. By Sentosa Station, Tiger Sky Tower has panoramic views that can stretch as far as Indonesia. On the south coast, Palawan Beach is lined with food stalls and bars, and has a suspension bridge to a small offshore island. Palm-lined, crescent-shaped Tanjong Beach is more tranquil.

Open Water Swimming

• The island hosted the open water swimming competitions at the 22nd World Aquatics Championships between 11 July - 3 August 2025 on Palawan Beach.
  • 16 July: women’s 10 km marathon swim
  • 16 July: men’s 10 km marathon swim
  • 18 July: women’s 5 km and men’s 5 km
  • 19 July: men’s 3 km Knockout Sprints and women’s 3 km Knockout Sprints
  • 20 July: mixed 4x1500m relay
