Skinsuit
From Openwaterpedia
Jaked swimsuit won during the 2010 FINA World Championships
noun - A skin suit is a tight-fitting, performance swimwear made by all of the major swimsuit manufacturers for competitive swimmers. The skin suit provides benefits to swimmers due to its incorporation of compression panels and drag reduction due to the material composition.
Origin
Belgrad suits became popular in the 1970s when tight-fitting competitive swimsuits (or skin suits) with a high neckline became the competitive swimsuit of choice in the aftermath of the 1974 Yugoslavia World Swimming Championships when the East German female swimmers set 7 world records and won 10 out of 14 events. The swimsuit was provocative at the time for being unlined and made out of Lyrac.
