Steve Wozniak was an American open water swimmer who was inducted as an Honor Swimmer in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 1979. He was a cement truck driver by profession.
Open Water Swimming Career
- Wozniak enjoyed a 50-year marathon swimming career.
- In 1937, he won the USA National five-mile championship.
- He finished 3rd in the 41.8 km Atlantic City Centennial Swim on 26 July 1954.
- In 1957, he won the five- and ten-mile events at the Canadian National Exhibition
- He won the 54 km (32-mile) Nile River Swim in 1956
- He participated in the 88 km (55-mile) Parana River swim in Argentina in 1961.
- He finished third in several 36 km (22.5-mile) Around-the-Island Marathon Swims in Atlantic City, USA.
- He swam 9 miles around Buffalo harbor with his legs tied when he was the age of 71.
- He died at the age of 71 in 1987 while planning for his final English Channel attempt.
- He competed in the Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean, coached by Gilles Potvin.
