Susan Moody Prieto is an American pool and open water swimmer and aquapreneur who swam butterfly for Princeton University from 1990 to 1994. During those 4 years, the team was Ivy League and Eastern champions. She was captain of the Princeton women's swim team in 1994. She is a mother of two and is the Director of Marketing for Worldreader.

Swimming Career Highlights

  • She participated in an 88-mile (141.6 km) charity swim and relay across the Sea of Cortez in Mexico together with Richard Ernst, Mauricio Prieto, Vito Bialla, Luane Rowe and Antonio Argüelles on 1 June 2014.
  • On 27 December 2020, she completed an 18 km relay crossing of the Cozumel Channel in Mexico from Isla Cozumel to Maya Riviera with Mauricio Prieto and Carolina Prieto in 6 hours 52 minutes 56 seconds.
  • She joined the YMCA swim team in Winston-Salem, NC at age 6, where she swam competitively and by age 9 she was the state champion in 50 fly. At age 17 she was ranked nationally in 200 fly with a 2:06 time at nationals. She swam for Princeton University 1990-1994, period during which the team remained undefeated and was captain in 1993-1994 and led Princeton to win the Easterns two years in the row. After touching the wall at her final meet at Princeton in 1994, she felt exhausted by swimming and longed to try other sports: tennis, mountain biking, running, and fly fishing. Almost 15 years later, she began doing long distance outdoor swims with Mauricio Prieto in the Mediterranean Sea and slowly began to realize that swimming is a part of who she was. When Prieto proposed swimming the Strait of Gibraltar, at first she thought it would be impossible, but the thought of not doing it seemed even more impossible.
  • She founded Swim4Good together with her husband Mauricio Prieto and Emily Kunze. Together they produce a blog called OWswimming that focuses on various open water swimming topics and showcases interviews and guest posts with swimmers. As part of Swim4Good, Moody, Mauricio Prieto and Emily Kunze swam across the Strait of Gibraltar and raised $106.000 for Worldreader, a non-profit organization that brings books to kids in the developing world using mobile technology.
