noun - A swim-to-shore transition is the point during an open water swim or the T1 transition of a triathlon between the swim leg and the cycling leg where an athlete swims up to shore, either dolphins or stands up in the shallow water, and then walks, jogs or runs to the finish or transition area.

The veteran swimmer had a faster swim-to-shore transition than the younger swimmer when he started to dolphin earlier.
