Patrick Woepse Foundation
The Patrick Woepse Foundation is a foundation that honors the life of Patrick Woepse while raising awareness for NUT Carcinoma and other rare cancers. The pillars of the Foundation are built upon Woepse’s legacy, innovative collaboration, hard work, and resilience with the aid to advocate for rare cancer research and trials, patient and family care, and areas that need change within the NUT Carcinoma community.
The Foundation works alongside the Dana-Farber Institute, Crabtree Lab at Stanford and University of North Carolina to offer its support and funds to help push for change.

NUT Carcinoma
NUT Carcinoma is a rare and aggressive cancer, primarily diagnosed in young adults. NUT Carcinoma is a midline cancer, meaning it is found in the head, neck, chest (lung) or abdomen. Symptoms include unintentional weight loss, fatigue, pain, cough and shortness of breath.
One of the most concerning aspects of NUT Carcinoma is its rapid progression and resistance to standard cancer treatments. Because it is so rare, it is often misdiagnosed or discovered at an advanced stage, making it difficult to treat. Researchers are actively working to develop better therapies.

Patrick Woepse
Patrick Woepse (born 10 August 1993, died 10 October 2024 at the age of 31) was an American open water swimmer and water polo player from Northern California who played at UCLA.
- His wife and family has established the Patrick Woepse Foundation based on his motto, "We Can Do Hard Things."
- On 10 August 2023, he completed a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 10 hours 28 minutes under the guidance of escort pilot Eddie Spelling.
- On 9 August 2021, he completed a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 12 hours 53 minutes 34 seconds with support by his 2015 and 2016 NCAA championship water polo team from UCLA including Paul Reynolds, Daniel Lenhart, Elliot Ordway, Anthony Daboub, Ryder Roberts, and Erik Najarian with observers Forrest Nelson and Rebecca Nevitt.
