Tom Clardy

Tom Clardy is an American open water swimmer and a former Navy SEAL who served in the Vietnam War. He later lost his leg while serving as a police officer.

• He crossed the Catalina Channel, the first amputee to do so, finishing in 14 hours 2 minutes 14 seconds in 1982.
