The Travesía Ruta Olaya (or the Travesía la Ruta de Olaya or is a 22 km open water swim held in Lima Bay, Peru from Pescadores Beach in Chorrillos to Cantolao Beach in Callao.
Origin
The event is named after Peruvian hero José Silverio Olaya Balandra who carried secret messages while swimming between the Government of Callao and Lima Patriots during the Peruvian War of Independence in 1822-1823.
