The Travessia Ilha do Arvoredo is a 25 km solo marathon swim between Bombinhas, Arvoredo Island and the coast of the Santa Catarina state in Brazil.
Arvoredo Island
Arvoredo Island is an island in the Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve (Portuguese: Reserva Biológica Marinha do Arvoredo), a biological reserve off the coast of the Santa Catarina state, Brazil.
History
- Envisioned in 2007 by Dailza Damas, the first crossing of the channel between Arvoredo Island and the mainland was first completed in 2010 by Cassio Ricci and Carlos Trautwein Bergamaschi.
- The first 50 km two-way crossing between the island and the mainland was completed in 14 hours 16 minutes by Adherbal de Oliveira on 31 March 2019.
Organization
Doutel de Oliveira of Eventos Esportivos Bombinenses has organized the Circuito de Travessias de Bombinhas since 2000 including the Travessia Ilha do Arvoredo.
