James Tout is the only human in history to have complete the Triple Crown of Endurance Sports with his Hawaiian Ironman in 1981, Boston Marathon in 1982, and the English Channel in 1987.

Alternative Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming Achievements

On 13 July 2009, Steven Munatones of the World Open Water Swimming Association proposed a number of alternative Triple Crown swims based on the original Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming (English Channel + Catalina Channel + Manhattan Island Marathon Swim). Similar to the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing that can be defined differently, there are a number of alternative definitions for achievements of the original Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.
