Walter Bean Scott

Walter Scott is an American open water swimmer, attorney and a member of the La Jolla Cove Swim Club. Professionally, Scott is a graduate of the Harvard Law School, a practicing attorney, and a former Navy SEAL.
Open Water Swimming Career Highlights
- On 3 September 2010, he completed a crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Southern California mainland in 10 hours 53 minutes 18 seconds.
- On 17 June 2011, he completed a 20 km course in Morse Reservoir in Indiana in 7 hours 11 minutes 24 seconds.
- On 18 August 2012, he completed a 19.6 km crossing of the Santa Barbara Channel from Anacapa Island to the California mainland in 5 hours 48 minutes 9 seconds in a tandem swim with Michael Hird under the auspices of the Santa Barbara Channel Swimming Association.
- On 21 September 2013, he planned an attempt of a channel crossing from Santa Barbara Island to the coast of California, a distance of 37.7 miles (60.2 km).
- Scott was the alternate swimmer for the Nighttrain228 world record relay down the California coast.
