Winter Swimming Championships in Lake Bled

The Winter Swimming World Championships have been held in various locations including Lake Bled in Slovenia, Helsinki, Jyväskylä, Kajaani, Muonio, Oulu, London, Latvia, Rovaniemi, Finland, and Tyumen, Russia on 8-12 March 2016. It is one of the World's Top 100 Open Water Swims for 2014.

Events

The races at the World Winter Swimming Championships include the following:

  • 25 meter breaststroke
  • 25 meter freestyle
  • 50 meter freestyle
  • Polar Bears - 50 meter swim without timing
  • Seals - 25 meter swim without timing
  • Young Seals - Dip in the water
  • Endurance swim 450 meters
  • Breaststroke relays 4 x 25 meters (note: team must include both genders)
  • International freestyle relays 4 x 25 meters

International Winter Swimming Association World Cup Series

The IWSA World Cup or International Winter Swimming Association Winter Swimming World Cup circuit (WSWC) is a 5-part winter swimming competitive circuit organized by the International Winter Swimming Association, headed by chairperson Mariia Yrjö-Koskinen of Finland and co-organizer Aleksandr Jakovlevs of Latvia.
