Gilles Chalandon is a 62-year-old Franco-American open water swimmer from New York.

Open Water Swimming Career

  • As a member of the Half Century Club, the 52-year-old crossed the English Channel from England to France in 14 hours 29 minutes in late September 2010.
  • He was recognized with a 2012 Hudsie Award by NYC Swim for his frequent participation in NYC Swim events.
  • He completed the 18.3-mile Stage 1 from the Rip Van Winkle Bridge to the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge of the 2011 8 Bridges Hudson River Swim in New York, U.S.A. in 6 hours 5 minutes.
  • On 28-29 July 2017, he finished fourth in the inaugural 40 Bridges - Double Manhattan Island Swim in 20 hours 37 minutes 3 seconds (8:36:00 first circumnavigation + 12:01:03 second circumnavigation) at the age of 62.
  • On 28-29 September 2010, he completed a crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 14 hours 29 minutes at the age of 52.
