Margaret (Maggie) Kidd

Margaret "Maggie" Hodgart nee Kidd is an open water swimmer from Scotland. A lifelong resident of Maybole, she is the only person from Ayrshire to have swam the English Channel and only Scots woman to have swam North Channel.
Open Water Swimming Career
- she crossed the English Channel on 23 July 1987.
- On 23 August 1988, she completed a 35 km crossing of the North Channel from Northern Ireland to Scotland in 15 hours 26 minutes 3 seconds with Quinton Nelson as her escort pilot.
- she competed for Scotland at numerous marathon swims including the Loch Lomond (in 15 hours 22 minutes in August 1987), Loch Rannoch, Lake Windermere, 2-way Lake Windermere, Ailsa Craig to Girvan, Suez Canal, Lake Zurich, Loch Earn, Lough Earn (Ireland), Galway Bay (Ireland) and Tay Swims.
- she swum across Windermere ten times.
