Undercaps can be seen underneath the top caps of the Canadian swimmers competing in the 10 km FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series race at the 2019 Traversée internationale du lac St-Jean held in Quebec, Canada

noun - Top cap is a swim cap worn over another swim cap (under cap) by open water swimmers or competitive swimmers. The top cap can be either silicone, latex or lycra swim caps worn on the head.

Purposes[edit]

Top caps are worn for various reasons including increased warmth or fear of one cap coming off during an open water swim.
