William Lee

William "Davis" Lee is an American open water swimmer and a nuclear physicist and native of Greenwich, Connecticut who grew up in his teenage years in the Bahamas. A physicist, he received his doctorate in physics from MIT, a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Mary Washington. He is coached by Andrew Soracco.
Open Water Swimming
- He completed the 2010 16.1 km Kingdom Swim in Lake Memphremagog, Vermont in four hours.
- In August 2009, he completed the 8-mile Boston Light Swim from Little Brewster Lighthouse to South Boston, Massachusetts.
- In August 2010, he completed the 8-mile Boston Light Swim from Little Brewster Lighthouse to South Boston, Massachusetts, finishing in under three hours.
- He completed the 45.9 km Manhattan Island Marathon Swim on 23 June 2012 to become the 50th member of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming.
- He completed a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel on 26 July 2011 in 9 hours 46 minutes.
- He completed a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel on 28 September 2010 in 12 hours 41 minutes at the age of 35.
