Extreme Winter Relay North Channel members Ger Kennedy, Declan Bradshaw, Dave Berry, Vincent Donegan, Colm Morris, and Niamh McCarthy will attempt a 35 km North Channel crossing in January 2022 with Manager Ger Devin and Emergency Medical Technician Barry Patterson and escort pilot Pádraig Mallon
Ger Devin is a 56-year-old Irish open water swimmer from Wicklow, Ireland who represents the Dublin Swimming Club.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
- He achieved the Frosted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming on 14 October 2022.
- He participated in the 2017 Polish Championships in Winter Swimming.
- He participated in the 94 km Irish Sea Swim from Holyhead, Wales to Dublin, Ireland that benefitted the Gavin Glynn Foundation in 38 hours 52 minutes between 10:26 pm on 17 September 2019 and 1:20 pm on 19 September 2019. The team consisted of Captain Ger Kennedy, Vice Captain Anna Mc Carthy, Dee Newell, Ger Devin, Richard Dunne and Garrett McDermott with Pádraig Mallon and Nicky Donnelly serving as escort pilots and Milo Mc Court serving as a crew member with observer Ian Conroy on the Irish Sea Relay swim.

- He completed the 10 km Sandycove Island to Speckle Door and Back swim.
- He was the 2018 Sandycove Champion of Champion Swims.
- He completed the 2017 Lough Dan 10k.
- He completed a 1 km Ice Kilometer in Poland in 0°C water.
- He participated in a 2016 English Channel 4-person relay in 10 hours 55 minutes.
- He is the manager for the Extreme Winter Relay North Channel team that includes Ger Kennedy (pump engineer), Declan Bradshaw (Microsoft director), Dave Berry (sports director), Vincent Donegan (fireman), Colm Morris (primary school teacher), Niamh McCarthy (Managing Director), with Emergency Medical Technician Barry Patterson who will attempt to cross the 35 km North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland in January 2022 with escort pilot Pádraig Mallon.
- On 26 September 2018, he completed a 33.5 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 16 hours 41 minutes at the age of 52.
- He completed the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Swim around Manhattan Island in New York City on 1 June 2019, finishing in 8 hours 11 minutes 22 seconds at the age of 53.
- On 14 October 2022, the completed a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Southern California 12 hours 39 minutes 43 seconds to achieve the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming at the age of 56. His support crew included Janet Devin and escort kayakers Barb Schumacher and Dan Simonelli, and CCSF observers Don Van Cleve and Jill Hanson.
