Pool Swimming Career
He competed in the 100m and 200m backstroke at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
Open Water Swimming Career
- He completed two of the seven Oceans Seven swims: the Strait of Gibraltar and the English Channel
- He completed the 28.5-mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in New York.
- He completed the Travesía Peniche islas Berlengas in Portugal in 2010. In this 10 km swim, he swam from Peniche (Playa de Baleal) to the island of Berlengas in rough seas caused by the nortadas (winds from the Azores). In the 14°C water with Pieter Christian Jongeneel Anderica, he encountered many cangrejos rojos (red crabs) swimming on the surface of the water.from Portugal.
- He is the fastest person to cross the Faial-Pico Channel (Portuguese: Canal Faial-Pico), an 8.3 km (5.2 mile) channel that separates the islands of Faial and Pico in the Azores. He crossed the channel in 2014 in 2 hours 11 minutes.
