The Monastir Sea is located on the central eastern coast of Tunisia long Monastir, a city on the central coast of Tunisia in the Sahel area, (20 km south of Sousse and 162 km south of Tunis). Traditionally a fishing port, Monastir is now a major tourist resort.
Open Water Swimming
- 24 May 2015: Nejib Belhedi swam 15 km in the World Iron Swim in Golfe de Skanes in Monastir Sea in 6 hours 40 minutes from the One Resort Hotel beach to Dkhlia beach with the guidance of escort pilot Mahdi Aghir and observer Mohamed Rekik
- 2013: Ouma For Kids Across Tunisia, based on ouma, was based on Nejib Belhedi's solo 1400K Swim Across Tunisia
- 2011: Nejib Belhedi completed several of his stages across the Monastir Sea during his 1400K Swim Across Tunisia
- 4 June 2007: Aditya Santosh Raut completed a 10 km crossing in the Monastir Sea from Ile Kuriat to Monastir
- 4-6 September 2015: Ouma of Monastir, an open water swimming event supported by the Youth Council
